I don’t know about you but I really enjoy September as it can be (there’s still time yet!) one of the loveliest times of year in the garden so I’m taking every opportunity to enjoy the last of the display. I think it’s also a great opportunity to take an objective look at the garden and maybe re-think some areas that I’d like to re-design next year. September is an ideal time of year to be thinking about dividing up and moving any shrubs that might have outgrown their space. I bet like me you’ve been tempted by the spring flowering bulbs that are coming in to the garden centres right now. I’m planning some stunning (hopefully!) displays of spring flowering bulbs! Talking of planning ahead, I’ll be ordering my sweet pea seeds soon, to plant next month so they’re well established by the summer. Don’t forget to keep a close eye on the weather forecast, especially towards the end of September, when we could start getting overnight frosts; I’ll be protecting tender plants with fleece or moving them indoors. Hopefully we’ll have soon had some beautiful autumn days when we can all get out and enjoy our gardens! |
